Under Film you have Fuji Velvia, which is a color slide film, yet the pic is in b/w, did you convert it to b/w? or misidentify the film source?

And under state you have Utah, but for country you have Ireland! Are you trying to pull a fast one here Bob? :-))

This is a fine shot. I only wish that the central rock formations had a bit more snap to them. I would like to see them stand out a little more from their surroundings. But once again I will state that this could easily be a monitor issue.

Sorry Bob and Mike, I need to do a better job with my technical details. 1) yes the film was Velvia and it was desaturated and then toned. 2) This is the USA, not Ireland. Sorry for the misinformation. I'll fix it now.

And Bob, I don't think it's your monitor. In general, this one just doesn't quite have enough snap and there's no easy fix for that! This one's not destined for the wall. . .

Not so fast Bob! My first look at this shot was in the studio and it looked a little flat. My monitor there is calibrated more for pre-press work so it has a little lower contrast than normal. But now I'm home and it looks better! It could still use a little more pop, but nothing drastic by any means.

So don't give up on it yet!

Very Good photograph! Nice impression of dimension and depth. Good range of tones. You know Robert, I think your work with the Blad wins out over the 10D. Regards.

Walter, thanks for your kinds comments--I really do admire your work. I'm in full agreement about the cameras. I'm a much better shooter when I use the completely manual Blad or Leica. Of course, I'm lazy by nature and it's so easy to snap away with digital . . .
