Exposure was determined by Histogram Inspection. 1/600 sec @ ~f5.6. The sun sets early in the high desert at this time of year. This shot taken around 5 pm, Cold, strong winds prevaled.

There is detail in the raw scan that didn't make it to the jpg

stage...Do you like the complete silhouette of the Joshua tree?

I think the composition is good. The light falls off rapidly from the tops, and that gives the appearance of blurriness, even though this is sharp.
