White Tank Granite Sunset

greglyon

Exposure was determined by Matrix metering. 1/5 sec @ f6.3. Lens set @ 32mm (effective 48mm). Smoke from the October 2003 Forest fires in LA softened the light of this lovely sunset.

To me this photo is very typical of a Joshua tree evening. Rocks and

sky...but is there enough here? Too much? Please critique the

composition.

The sudden change in light caught me off guard on this evening. It

had been smokey and overcast all day. Suddenly the sun shone through

and lit the bottom of the smoke/clouds to create this scene. I'm

sure glad I brought my tripod along on the short hike from White Tank

campground!

At first I thought that there were to many rocks, but the more I look at it the more I like it. The colors in the sky are great.

Thanks Jim, that's the same thing I keep going back and forth on. It looks better when it's larger...less cluttered.
