Loon Island Lighthouse

a little on the dark side (at least on my monitor) ... this was near sunset?

It is always "near" sunset in winter in New Hampshire, but sunset was about two hours away. I metered off the white of the lighthouse, then added one and a half stops. Also tried two stops, but that washed out the lighthouse too much. Suggestions on how to lighten the rest of the scene in camera would be appreciated. Thank you for your comment.

A polarized filter may have allowed you to open it up without blowing out the white. It might have killed the reflection in the water, though. Very nice shot!

I think Nd filter will help to capture a better image, and still you do it in P.S. as my attach,

That definitely brings out the image Nabil, thank you. As a real beginner to photoshop I am amazed by the results I see and frustrated by my inability to duplicate them.

I would lower camera and move horizon from middle of the picture.
