Thanks Greg & Verena! I am very impress with this R5 and this is the only camera that I have ever get my hand on that just knock me off my socks as such. I had the 1D Mark III which was a top Canon and cost $6000 when it was introduced and while I love it, it never impress me like this R5. The built quality is not anywhere close to the 1D series camera but the performance (focus, tracking and resolution) is light years ahead of what I was using (the Canon 7D Mark II).

Hi TmJ,

I'm happy to see you're enjoying your first run with this camera so much! It obviously is a wildlife photographer's dream to use and I'm seeing the wonderful results on PN. Hope you'll find the budget to buy it soon. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Vincent, I've lost many great images in the last few days since I don't know how to use the camera well but this afternoon I think I've figured it out. I still don't fully have a handle on this camera but I think I can get more out of it than the last few days. I will probably send it back in the next couple days and sit on the fence but I would say it's a one camera solution that I was looking for. Not sure if I will sell my Olympus and the rest of my gears yet though, LOL!

Hi Greg & Verena! I have been shooting with the Sony A7R (36mp) , A7 IR converted (and sold off A6000, A6300) with Commlite adapter using all my Canon lenses (15mm Fisheye, 16-35mm ... ect) the last 5+ years and while I got great images from Sony I have found that most of my landscape images that I tried to manipulated tend to have strange colors at times. I always thought I would end up with an A9 + 200-600mm lens judging from results of people that I know who shoots wildlife. But, since I have been a Canon guy with many Canon lenses I think Mr Canon sort of save himself from a Canon guy like me from switching. Mr Olympus sort of shot himself in the foot with a guy like me also (while I am at it, LOL). I still like the Oly's very much since the cost is so minimal (1/5 or less) compares to even my old Canon setup (7D II + EF 500mm F4).

Hi!

That's interesting! The new 7R4 has 64 mp-- my old 7r2 has 42 mp -- never had a problem with color. These do take a lot of computer room, but, I find, no real need to shoot raw at this size, so that saves a lot of time. With that size sensor, one can really zoom in and correct even more for sharpness since there is so much pixel info there. Just a thought!

Hi Greg & Verena! It might be that my A7R (36mp) that has an issue. Either that or RAW from Sony is the problem since I only shoot RAW on Sony and when I make adjustment before exporting to JPG that the color sometimes changes to strange color.

Great shot. The R5 is an awesome camera. The animal eye tracking is phenomenal in the right conditions. Mind you you were getting great shots without the R5 so it comes down to the photographer to a certain point as well. The R5 will definitely increase your keeper rate that’s for certain! Looks like it picked up the right set of eyes in this shot…..

Thanks Greg & Verena! I will check it out and see. I run into a friend who told me about the Sony A7R IV or A7R IV II that has the A1 eye/bird tracking feature. As for me, since I've been shooting Canon 45+ years with a bunch of Canon lenses laying around it would make more sense for me to look at the R5 route. However, I will be a fence sitter with my Olympus and Canon 7D II for a while. :-)

Thanks Scott Edwardson! I can see the apparent / stark contrast of new tech verse old tech with the R2 verses my 7D II very clearly. I always feel confident for the last 7,8 years using the 7D II with focusing but lately (may be I am getting older and slower) I don't seem to get as much keeper as I use to get (or maybe my memory - short term - is ... waning). The R5 is a game changer to me and with it's price range (under $4,000), I think it's relatively reasonable. However, if Mr Canon can give the R5 to me at the R6 price then he would have a sale ..... yesterday :-). As for now, I think I will just borrowing Mr Canon's equipment to test further. May be he can lend me the R3 to test too. :-)
