Good documentation and presentation, at least it's not a plastic bag who lifespan extends way beyond paper one. Take care.

Franz, George - Thanks for taking the time to comment. This doesn't play well at the usual size and is much better viewed larger, I think.

Hi Jack,

the douchebag who decided that this quiet corner would be a good place to get rid of his/her Starbucks bag was certainly not counting on your photographic hunger for situations like this one. Although the colors of the bag nicely match the surroundings and the central composition works wonders here, it remains a sad sight to see a bag end up in this spot, even if it's a biodegradable one. Kind regards, Vincent

Vincent - I hate making comments in the tiny boxes they have provided us since I often edit my thoughts and if I make the wrong click (as I just did) a carefully expressed comment just goes up in smoke. Anyway, the gist of what I was saying is that when I put on my photographer hat, I try to refrain from judgement and simply compose and record that which interests me. That's not to say that I don't judge myself, other people and society in general, just not with a camera in my hand. In my world, at least in a certain way, the Taj Mahal and a pile of garbage are equal; in fact the garbage is more likely to attract my interest since when I shoot I'm trying to see beyond the expectations and programming of what society thinks makes a good picture. I enjoy finding interesting aspects in the mundane and the unremarkable. That's the fun of it for me.

Onegaishimas Sensei McRitchie Sama: I had not an iota of doubt. As soon as I "glimpsed passingly" I had to say hello, my dear friend and most unique photographer, with this exquisitely simple, every-day-image, turned into a riddle. A Koan. Thank you so very much for having returned to this forum. I have noted (have you?) the absence of the Elfs? It is important, but even more relevant and forthcoming are the comments among the group of friends with whom we share the secret, personal pleasures of PHOTOGRAPHY. Salutations and best regard to each and every one of you, Franz, George, Vincent, loyal companions. DG

Hi Jack,

what a wonderful response to my comment! I admire the absolutely non-judgemental way your photographic brain operates, it is something that I don't think I can achieve unless I'm in nature. Thank you for your reply. Kind regards, Vincent

Daniel - Thanks for the comment. Like so much else with this site, replies to comments has not been adequately thought out. In reference to the missing "elves" (by which I gather you mean Picture of the Week and other staff selections), it's pretty evident that the present owners of PN have little interest in the site other than using it as an advertising vehicle for their photography classes. It's hard to really care about a site when ownership obviously does not.
