Technical tragedy in Turkey

I travelled right across Europe, nursing a roll of Infrared

Ektachrome, keeping it cool in hotel minibars, the intention being to

shoot something like this. I had shot the whole roll in one go, but,

when I was putting the camera back in its bag, I saw the yellow

filter, still in the bag. I had forgotten it! What would have

happened would be that each layer of the film would have had the same

image in blue light superimposed. I pulled the film two stops in E6,

so the exposure came out reasonably, but there was a very strong

magenta cast, which proved impossible to remove. The red and the blue

layers of the transparency were recovered reasonably, but the green

layer was almost completely lost. The red flowers in the troughs

should be bright green, but they are just yellow. I will not make

that mistake again.
