frigo 4,155 Posted September 8, 2020 Michael...Now that is some way to start your association with the automobile;I bet, with hindsight, you would like to have held on to it...but that is easier said than done.Good shot of this pristine modern classic!Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted September 9, 2020 Indeed, Laurent, how I wish I still owned this vehicle. I acquired it as a gift from my grandmother, who owned the car before me. So this vehicle holds a lot more for me than driving experience. Many thanks. - - My best always, michael Link to comment

Bill Neubaum 9,343 Posted September 10, 2020 Nice car Michael....Reminds me, my best friend (still) has a '57 Chevy wagon that he has put a lot of time and money into, and it's loaded with memories.....best wishes, Bill PS: I also have an EOS 60D that my son uses with a couple lenses I gave him. michaellinder 16,611 Posted September 10, 2020 Thanks for your visit and comments, Bill. Indeed, this iconic auto is priceless to anyone who still owns one. OK, now a bit of negotiation. If I pretend to be another son of yours, can you please donate photo equipment to me?!? I still use the 60D, although I've been tempted to bite the bullet and to buy a full-frame Canon. However, I won't since I'm sure that such an instrument in and of itself won't make me a better photographer. - - Many thanks, michael Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 10, 2020 Hi Michael, I can understand your nostalgia seeing this beautiful car that you once owned and that has so many memories attached to it. Your first car was of another league and class than mine: my first 'automobile' was a Citroën 2CV 6 van (https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/222998619021157471/ , not my car) that didn't look half as decent as the one I linked to. And even I sometimes think back of the days I drove this 27 hp French vehicle and have nice memories of it. As nice as it is to have some background in the photo that shows the ambiance of a car show, it somehow lessens the impact of the car itself, but there's no way around it. That's why I make photos of details of cars. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted September 13, 2020 Vincent, thanks very much for your detailed set of comments. What I appreciate most of all is your mention of limiting car photos to their parts only. In retrospect, I should have cropped from the bottom of the rear window to the top of the trunk. The result would have emphasized the Chevrolet emblem and, better still, the car's iconic tail assemblies. As to your driving a Citroen, a friend of mine owned a car that was a hybrid of Citroen and Maserati. He let me drive it, and I confess to almost have a urinary accident because of the car's performance! - - My best aways, michael Link to comment
