Giangiorgio Crisponi 458 Posted August 7, 2020 Landing - ( Phoenicopterus roseus) - I photographed this flamingo in the landing phase, shortly after dawn, with the first rays of the sun, from the top of a hill overlooking the lagoon of Cagliari (shooting distance about one km), Nikon d500, Sigma supertele 300- 800mm, f / 6.3, 1 / 1600sec, ISO 250. michaellinder 16,611 Posted August 7, 2020 Another flamingo dancing on the water, especially for you, Giangiorgio! This image is nothing short of a masterpiece, Its composition and perspective not only account for the diagonal landing, but also for the elliptical areas that shrink in size from right left. To me, this is easily explained: the larger the area, the more force exerted by the bird. Yet, I can't explain the splashes of water generated in the 2 smallest areas. No doubt, the spectacular ambient lighting conditions resulted in the bold contrast and the water's colors, which are extraordinarily vivid. Finally, although a lesser photographer possibly might have oversharpened the image, you certainly did not; the sharpness level suits the subject matter perfectly. - - My best always, michael - - Ciao! pablowarko 1 Posted August 7, 2020 Looks like a pretty straight landing, Giangiorgio. I like the circles as they get smaller in size. Love how the water splashes are lit up by the sunlight. As the circles get smaller they get more distorted. I assume it is because the bird is slowing down and sinking more into the water. A beautifully composed and presented image that shows off your expertise in these types of images. Best regards, Paul. Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted August 9, 2020 Hi Giangiorgio, a photo instantly recognizable as one of yours! You have proven on countless occasions to master this type of photography, combining all the different elements that are part of this into one great image. To capture the movement of this landing with the right exposure to get the 'golden' light is difficult enough, but knowing where to be and what to expect are part of it too. Finally, knowing the habits of your flamingo models is key to this great bird photography. Bravo! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 458 Posted August 9, 2020 Graze mille Vincent. I always appreciate your visit .Thanks for your interesting observations . To get this kind of photo you need to get up before sunrise on windless days and hope to be lucky. The margin of time in which to take these photos is a few minutes after sunrise, then when the sun rises, it becomes too bright. If the flamingos don't move in this short time, the day is lost. I'm glad you enjoyed and appreciated it, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
