Comet Neowise - These days the new comet Neowise is visible in our skies. I photographed this comet from my window at 5 o'clock, before dawn, in the north-east direction. The antennas are 20 km away from home. Nikon D850, Sigma 300-800mm, f / 8, 3 sec, ISO 320. Thanks for your comments

For me to see an astronomic event like this I'd need to travel at least 20 miles due west, where's there's no light pollution. Giangiorgio, you were in the right place at the right time! I'm awestruck by how the image displays the layers of the atmosphere , which appear identifiable by their colors and also their tonalities. If you had set your camera at a higher ISO, I suspect you might have been disappointed with the image. To me, the noise level here is tolerable and doesn't diminish the image's quality. Finally, the 8.3 exposure time resulted in a dramatically long tail. - - My best always, michael - - Ciao!

Giangiorgio, Beautiful! I like the way the radio/TV antennae and microwave towers give perspective to the photo and enrich its composition. Great shot!

All Best, Charles

Hi Giangiorgio,

impressive shot of this comet! I think you made a wise decision to keep the ISO down and expose longer. Not only do we see the 'tail' better, but a shorter exposure would make the noise level go up considerably. Kind regards, Vincent
