Migrants.

With great surprise in the lagoons of Cagliari populated by thousands of pink flamingos ( Phoenicopus roseus), this Lesser flamingo (Phoeniconaias minor) appeared unexpectedly overnight.

This lesser flamingo normally lives in the lagoons of Sub-Saharan Africa. As you can see it has a smaller size, it is more colorful, the dark red beak and the red eye. How it got there is unknown, but it was set very well.

Nikon D850, f / 5,6, 1/1000 sec, ISO 100,. Thank you for your comments

Great capture Giangiorgio! It is a beautiful bird. I am amazed at how far off some birds will stray. Every so often I read about migratory ducks from Asia ending up in California or Nevada. Warmest regards, Todd

There certainly is a lot of difference between the two, Giangiorgio. I really like the beak color and the super colors. Great job capturing this unusual visit. Best regards, Paul.

Hi Giangiorgio,

an almost 'political' image, as the local flamingos seem to be asking 'what are you doing here?', and the newcomer seems to answer 'but I'm a flamingo too'. Great composition, very nice colors. Kind regards, Vincent
