vincentoiseau 83 Posted March 25, 2020 Hi Jack, where do you find scenes like this? The round reed objects on the chair form a contrast to the chair and its surroundings in a way that makes the whole image stand out. It's not about the round forms vs the angular shapes or the warmer colors vs the colder, but rather the unlikelihood of the scene itself. Excellent presentation, very well seen. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted March 26, 2020 Jack, I'm afraid that I have nothing else to add. Tatiana, Franz, and Vincent's comments cover almost the entire gamut. This image is a paradigm of a still-life and, had one of the "old masters" painted it, one would see it in a museum. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 29, 2020 Tatiana, Franz, Vincent, Michael - Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts. As a kind of side note to Vincent's comment, I believe scenes like this present themselves to you in answer to the level of your intent. When you grow cataracts in your artistic eye, the world becomes grey and uninteresting (as it seems to be for me now). But intention and faith magically clears the lens and you see things as they truly are in all their wonder. Link to comment
