patrickcompagnucci 30 Posted March 10, 2020 Nice Jack. I like the two main subjects here and how one is drawn into the other by the diminishing perspective. Regards, Patrick Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted March 11, 2020 Hi Jack, small humans in a giant urban setting. Nothing disturbing, the children in the image seem very happy, judging from their posture. That's why I like your title, 'saturday afternoon' is not particularly exciting, but okay. I suspect the foreground may be meaningful too, but I can't judge that, since I can't read Japanese. It looks like a barber shop. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted March 12, 2020 Hello dear friend Jack: It was NOT the Japanese context that immediately pulled and jerked me into this image of yours. There is something undefinable in your photography, yet evidently identifiable. It is truly a very personal way to look at things, at the environment. You do not resort to post-processing effects...however, they "emerge by themselves" with your keen sense of Photography and your vast experience, of which we all have a lot to learn. Yes, it is a common, daily event on a sidewalk, but your POV has the magic of highlighting colors and, last but not least, masterful composition. Thanks for regaling us with your experience and savvy. My best personal regards to you. Kiotsukete Kudasai. Subarashi!! DG Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 15, 2020 Thanks, Patrick. I can't quite figure out what I'm doing anymore. I'm like a blind man feeling his way along a wall, trusting my instincts more than my intellect. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 15, 2020 Vincent - Thanks for the comment as always. There's nothing explicitly meaningful here, no intention. no particular comment on society. It's just a scene that resonated with me land brought back memories of an old picture book that delighted me as a child. In that way the meaning, such as it is, is personal but perhaps others will find something of interest in it also. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 15, 2020 Franz. Thanks for the comment. Yeah, no matter what I try I can't seem to escape myself. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 15, 2020 Daniel - Thanks as always for the flattering comment. As I said to Franz, no matter how I might try, I can't shake myself. My particular take on the world is always there in my photos, in everything. Sometimes when it's dark I might pretend to be someone else but when the light goes on, there is my shadow; yes, there I am again. I guess you have to make peace with yourself since, after all, that's the one you have to make the journey with. Link to comment
