bernath 2 Posted February 22, 2020 The photo shows a red-footed falcon (Falco vespertinus) pair after multiple sessions of mating. The steel-coloured one is the male, the other one is the female. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted February 22, 2020 Hi Sandor, a wonderful photo of these falcons after mating. Birds are often not very 'close' in their behavior after mating, while before and during the act they are often very involved with each other. I have never seen this falcon species in the wild myself, let alone had a chance to photograph it. It seems the female got a dragonfly (?) as a gift. I had to smile when I read your comment about who is who; if the steel-coloured one is the male, most readers would guess the other is the female:) Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
bernath 2 Posted February 22, 2020 Thank you, Vincent, for the kind note. The other photo I posted with this gives a more direct indication of which the male and female are, respectively. Although, there is no great difference between the size of red-footed falcon females and males, the male is somewhat smaller. It can reach 89-90% of the female's body weight. bernath 2 Posted February 22, 2020 Grazie Giangiorgio, sebbene stiamo umanizzando il comportamento degli animali, non posso fare a meno di essere d'accordo con te sul fatto che non sembrano eccessivamente soddisfatti, ciao Sandor Link to comment
pablowarko 1 Posted March 5, 2020 Doesn't look like they are on speaking terms, Sandor. Wonderful colors, light and background. Best regards, Paul. Link to comment
