michaellinder 16,611 Posted February 5, 2020 These riders seem to be experts at taking a drastic curve. If they were driving cars, I'd think they were using 4 wheel drift. Of course, I'm assuming that they came through a curve in the street since the area they already covered isn't visible in the image. To me, the street markings obviously provide contrast; for speakers of English only - like me, they prompt the wheels in my head to start turning, especially the one that spans the street's width. Good one, Jack! Link to comment
tai 3 Posted February 6, 2020 Glad to see your picture with the presence of bicycles, Jack! Superb frame and geometry. This is perfection on the brink of reality! I wonder what the symbols on the surface of the road mean? Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment

Zbigniew Tyburczy - ZT 6 Posted February 7, 2020 Jack,The image is composed very your own way. Very interesting way.The scene we see so many times every day.... The photo serves as your hallmark, and also as perfect example of flawless composition! This might seem so easy to achieve, but in real live it's not ...Regards,ZT, Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 8, 2020 Michael - I think I'm getting lazier and lazier; it takes me forever nowadays to respond to comments since it means I have to awaken from my torpor and actually think rationally for a brief spell. In Japan. bicycles are ubiquitous at all levels of society; they're second nature to me as well. This picture though is really not about bicycles although the two riders are obviously central to the pictures. In a way it reminds me of a Currier and Ives print in its "just so" appearance. The Japanese writing could mean anything since here it exists just for visual interest (it actually says School Zone). Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 8, 2020 ZT - Apologies for the late reply; I have made procrastination into a kind of art form. I think you understand my thinking very well. We travel the same routes and see the same things daily and believe there's noting new to be seen. This is absolute rubbish. As they say, you can't step into the same river twice. We try to maintain the fiction that we live in a stable, predictable world but that is an illusion - and can serve as a valuable source of artistic inspiration if you're awake to that fact and you allow your preconceptions to dissolve. Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 8, 2020 Arthur, thanks. That's why we're here after all, to inspire one another. You add to my visual understanding as hopefully I add to yours. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 8, 2020 Tatiana - I accidentally forgot to reply to your comment which is unforgivable since you are such a valuable member of our community and so generous with your comments. So a belated thank you. By the way the kana on the ground says School Zone. Link to comment
