vincentoiseau 83 Posted February 2, 2020 Hi Michael, I'm almost disappointed you post this as a B&W, given how it so strongly resembles the early (and much lesser known) paintings of Piet Mondriaan. It is your work however, and stands on its own as such. It's a visual adventure for which I thank you. The levels of abstraction of your images never cease to amaze me! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 460 Posted February 4, 2020 Bravo Michael. Excellent image in black and white, certainly also very beautiful in color, will it be the next? ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment

michaellinder 16,611 Posted February 4, 2020 Vincent, there's only one real reason for my decision to convert to b & w. I've seen quite a few full color photos of forest scenes; indeed, I've done several abstracts of them. This time, I wanted to experiment with monochrome. At the outset, I had no real idea about how the image would look when I finished it. As I progressed, I decided to highly accentuate the detail. What I saw when I finished, and still see now, is a somewhat extreme form of pointillism. I always appreciate your highly thoughtful comments; this occasion is no exception. And, by the way, I did view some of Mondrian's early work. - - My best always, michael Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted February 4, 2020 Your finely tuned photographic sensibility, Giangiorgio, must have enabled you to see the image in full color. I will consider reworking the original; in all likelihood though, i won't emulate the post work that resulted in the b&w. Grazie! - - My best always, michael - - Ciao! Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted February 4, 2020 Tatiana, considering the level of your own abstract work, I am honored by your remarks. I'm especially happy that you recognized the image's originality. - - My best always, michael, Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 5, 2020 Well this is certainly intriguing with it's appearance of fine needlepoint. You seem to explore every tributary of the river. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted February 5, 2020 Jack, I'm sure you know that my exploratory expeditions are still in their infant stage. The fine needlepoint was done with a really tiny needle. Link to comment
