bernath 2 Posted January 25, 2020 The paradise shelduck (Tadorna variegata) is a large goose-like duck endemic to New Zealand. The Māori calls it pūtangitangi, which is a prized game bird. The male has a black head and barred black body, the female a white head with a chestnut body. The paradise shelducks usually grazes on grass and weeds, but may raid crops, especially when molting. pablowarko 1 Posted April 8, 2020 What a contrast in colors between the head/neck and the rest of the body, Sandor. A very interesting looking bird, Best regards, Paul. Link to comment
bernath 2 Posted April 8, 2020 Thank you, Paul, for viewing. Paradise shelduck is unique in the bird world in that only the female (shown here) changes her bridal dress, the male does not. Kind regards, Sandor Link to comment
