The Australasian swamphen (Porphyrio melanotus) is a species in eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand. In New Zealand, it is known as the pukeko from the Māori pūkeko.

the swamphen looks very detailed and its shadow helps the well-composed presentation. The urban background makes me think the hen has some urgent errands to run :) Kind regards, Vincent

Thank you, Vincent, for the note. The photo was shot at Tewhakarewarewatangaoteopetauaawahiao or briefly Whakarewarewa maori village in New Zealand. One of the possible reasons why the bird was in a hurry is to avoid that I make a photo. Best,- Sandor
