Hi Michael: Thank you very much for posting this critique request with my name. You honor me for allowing me to scatter some thought on this image as per your request. I like the eclectic in general, not only on this image. There is a certain play of colors and objects, but for me, the key element (I believe it is fairly obvious) is not only the blue drawing but the stain of water at the top, denoting that this object was an everyday element, stained by the easy-flowing activities within a house or dining room. That stain, for me, makes this photo a jewel. It is nicely accompanied by odd other elements like the base of a lamp, that give the composition balance, but not taking away any attention from the elegant blue drawing centerpiece....and my favorite water, tea or coffee stain. Thank you once more for allowing me the honor of comment on this very "homey" composition. Best regards. DG

Daniel, I apologize for my delay in responding to your comments, for which I am both grateful and honored. I too noticed the stain when I shot the photograph and when I did my post work on it, but it took your keen thoughts that helped me realize why it was important to the image. I'm still learning not only photography but also the fine art of critiquing. You are a fine teacher on both counts. Finally, FYI, I'm going to post a monochrome version of this image, mostly as an experiment in comparison with the full color version. - - My best always, michael
