A common theme. The blurring around the edges does not appeal to me.

How common is it for a dog to adopt a kitten??

And, the blurring was to omit some of the distracting bedding she was in. Sorry you didn't like it,,,I think its a beautiful photo.

Elizabeth, I think the blurring gives it an artsy effect and does reduce the background noise. The colors are nice and neutral and therefore work well aesthetically. I think however that the value in this photo is the content.. she looks like a very happy golden and seems proud to have adopted a kitten for her pup - it's all in her face. But then again, I'm partial to goldens :-)

I'm a dog lover, a photography lover, and a cat tolerator. If this was a common theme I like to think I would have seen it by now, but this is the first. I love it! I must confess the beatific expression on Momma Golden's face caught my attention before the cat did. Nice.

Thank you Margaret and David for seeing in this photo the kindness of animals. Last year she had 9 puppies, this year only 1,,so I think she was happy to have the kitten.

I love the blurring, it shows what you wanted to be seen. Perfectly. Great shot.

I just looked at the people who rated you low. Ignore them. They shoot dead stuff. How can they rate life? This shot is about life, the joy of life and the joy in a mother's eyes. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could experience this?

I don't understand low ratings on such a beautiful sight either. I guess they can't appreciate what's going on here. As others pointed out,,,just look at the moms face...tells it all.

If you aren't a pet-lover, then this wouldn't appeal to you, I guess. Since I am a pet-lover, this image is very appealing to me. Nice lighting and good treatment with the blur.

I think the color and softening work is spot on. Only a Golden would love having a cat snuggle up with her pup. I've got 2 dogs / 2 kittens. I try for this all the time, but you nailed it.

My two year old male black lab did the same thing. I broght a brand new Siamese kitten home and he immediately took it from me. He was Mommy from that day forward.

I have a somewhat reversed situation. old golden tabby cat and two younger golden retrievers, one of the dogs every now and then gives the cat who is seated usually on one of his favourite chairs a one step complete body wash lick. The expression on the cat's face is something to see. I have never had the camera in my hand. I suspect they believe mr. cat is simply a funny looking golden retriever pup who never grew up. they are all the same colour.
