Giangiorgio Crisponi 458 Posted September 1, 2019 Vespidae ( Polistes dominulus). This wasp was photographed while it was busy making the nest, with Sigma macro 105mm optics on Nikon D300s camera, f /13 , 1 / 500sec, ISO 200. Thanks for your comments Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted September 1, 2019 If I were forced to choose, I would pick this image as my favorite in the series. Aside from the merits it shares with the others, what immediate caught my eye was the nest. The honeycomb appearance invites the viewer to delve into both its appearance and its implicit mystery. Giangiorgio, you clearly are as skilled with macro work as the other varieties of photos you have produced, but it's your artistry that ultimately shines. - - My best always, michael - - Ciao! gregverena 339 Posted September 1, 2019 Giangiorgio, Beautiful capture of this wasp and its nest- this is the time of year when we will discover where they are-often to the detriment of them and us :) Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 2, 2019 I'm surprised this wasp allowed you to get this close. If this were America, you would have been blown away by the wasp equivalent of an AK47. The picture was well worth the risk, though. Link to comment
