" I really don't believe anyone gave it much attention.." No one except you, Jack. By clicking the shutter, you not only violated the sign's edict; you also committed an act of civil disobedience. That's fine, since your work in general fits this description. The centered composition works perfectly.

Hi Jack,

as always a very well thought out presentation, pushing this sign in the face of the viewer, which is a lot more than the makers of the sign will have accomplished with their presentation. What a shabby sign! One would have expected a neatly executed, well-placed sign with a little more 'dignity'. I wonder what is behind this rather ominous prohibitive sign. Kind regards, Vincent

Laurent, Michael, Vincent - Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's signs like these that sets my mind to wondering and hopefully that keeps me young. What possessed the owner of this building (a coffee shop in a renovated traditional-style Japanese house) to post such a sign. I mean inside the shop I could see it but outside on a public street? What dark thoughts generated such a move? As for the sign itself, I kind of like it in it's tri-lingual simplicity and bleeding stick figures.

So.....Jack....you did not abide by the principles of the Samurai: Respect, elegance, and Discipline. You were undisciplined and in the end "there is a photo here"! Well, I am just appeased by knowing you did not use a tripod (I hope), nor file stick. Thus, you are cleared, phewww what a relief. In the end, you took the forbidden picture and produced, well..... a magnificent forbidden picture. Layer upon layer of interpretation, definitely your trademark. Wonderful as always. All the best. Thanks, Daniel. I have decided to impose a new edict : No Smiling when viewing this picture. All persons caught smiling, grinning, laughing or any using any untoward facial contortions will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Oh, and by the way, Warren Kaplan posted a picture on the same theme earlier today. You might want to check it out.
