michaellinder 16,613 Posted June 10, 2019 Tim, I find this image to be quite allegorical. Before I state my reasons for saying this, I also must conjecture that the photo would lose much of its impact without the presence of the double rainbow. It certainly is expertly composed, with the headstones comprising the front row and those comprising the very back one serving to lead the viewer's eye from the right edge to the left. Also, the color palette is pleasing and the tonal contrasts work well. In other words, the image would be technically sound and pleasing to the eye. Add the rainbows, and a viewer may think that they somehow serve as a conveyance in both directions between the earth and the heavens, with religious implications, of course. Given the image's title, I have no doubt that the rainbows end all doubt as to whether the veterans whose bodies are buried in the cemetery died in the service of their country and did not die in vain.
