Hi Jack,

my interpretaion of your photo is this: the smile of the Buddha is a universal one; there are almost no limitations to the kind of things life offers you if your mind is open and alert. The luxury car that's in the photo is an example of how life can be full of (material) nice-to-haves, but not necessarily fulfilling. It all depends on your outlook on life. I like the viewpoint of this photo (over a fence) and the effective composition. Kind regards, Vincent

Delightful ironic picture, Jack! Well captured! You made me laugh. One can imagine how the owner of this garden and car regularly polishes Hotei's belly. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Ho Ti, the Smiling Buddha/a Japanese Happy God is present within this scene not only in form but also in spirit. Vincent's interpretation of it is spot on. Following up on it, I have doubt that those people who can't afford automobiles, houses, gardens, and wrought iron fences noneless can survive in this world thanks in part of Ho Ti's spiritual generosity. Jack, although the image doesn't present anything really odd, its merit lies in getting viewers to think. I'm grateful. (Another favorite)

Jack, great photo, great comments...as it should be. I will propose the outside looking in theory as an alternative pov, partially Mr. Linders thoughts also. Well seen as always................BR, Holger

Bulent, Pierre, Vincent, Tatiana, Wolfgang, Michael, Holger - Thanks for taking the time to comment on this picture. Sometimes you're able to capture a concept or an idea in a picture. You don't set out with any particular point of view or make any point but then, suddenly, it's all right there in front of you. That's the magic of photography for me; it allows you to visualize a moment that may be intuited but is hard to express in words unless you are a poet. But a picture can catch the essence of something and make you smile at the same time.
