Jack McRitchie 150 Posted April 30, 2019 As always, you find photo opportunities in mundane scenes which almost everyone else passes by without notice. I think that one has to somehow empty the mind of labels and rid oneself of assumptions in order to enter into a world of different perceptions and different possibilities. To paraphrase a friend of mine: most people make the spectacular ordinary; you make the ordinary spectacular. Now I will add that for my personal taste I'd like a bit less of the foreground road but this is not my picture and it's obviously something you decided to include in your composition. Best regards, Jack. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted April 30, 2019 The white wispy cloud like markings make this photo work for me. That and the trees bring a very artistic feel to the image. I thought this might look good in landscape mode but that's strictly a personal desire Wolfgang. A very fine image................................BR, Holger Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted May 1, 2019 Jack, Holger, Franz: many thanks for your comments - as always: I highly appreciate your feedback. @Jack: you've spotted an aspect I struggled with. In fact, I have a version with a 3:4 crop with less foreground - and I couldn't really decide which one was better: more foreground (giving the viewer space to 'enter' the photo at the cost of a potential too 'heavy' foreground) or less... So, your opinion helps a lot in deciding which version to prefer! @Holger: your "landscape" idea goes into a similar direction - however, landscape didn't work well here, because the wall ended pretty much just outside the frame on both sides....
