vincentoiseau 83 Posted February 19, 2019 Hi Franz, an appealing photo of this place to stop at on your journey or walk. I have seen similar edifices in Austria and France, that seem to have the function of giving fatigued travelers a short moment of rest, not always with a religious side like this one, but mostly altar-like in appearance. I like the way you have accentuated the function of this structure by just showing enough background and setting a mood of security with the candlelight. Very well done! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
FranzWeber 368 Posted February 20, 2019 Vincent, thank you for your comment. This is what I found at Wikipedia, translated with google : The walk to the seven footfalls is one of the oldest forms of the cross. Introduced to the Rhineland by the Jerusalem pilgrims in the late Middle Ages, he made a petition through the village streets or the corridor, praying at seven corridors, chapels or sanctuaries, the so-called footfalls, each praying one station of the Passion of Christ in Jerusalem. In some places, pictorial sticks donated specifically for the passage, depicting passion scenes, have survived. Link to comment
