seems weather is much warmer there,we have lot of snow last days especially on mountain over 1800m,so nice always to see this vivid fresh color after months with only white,best regards.

Hi Radu- yes, it has been a relatively mild winter (so far) and these guys just popped out a couple of days ago. 1800m? I would say so! We are at about 700m.

Answering your question. These beautiful wild crocuses can easily be exchanged with saffron but the colchicine contained in them can be fatal, ciao Giangiorgio

Giangiorgio- grazie! I had actually meant to imply what the flower might be thinking about the weather-- but your answer prompted us to look it up and learn that these flowers can indeed be poisonous. Saffron crocuses (fall) have totally different anthers.
