Ha, ha....boxed in indeed, with a wall of sweetness of the coke on one side, a door in front for food submissions, and face at the window to encourage the above. But it's always an interesting story, skillfully contrived with available materials that everybody else would ignore.

Sadly, the man at the window appears to have lost the rest of his body; he exists as a disembodied head. OK, Jack, if you're not buying that, then I'll note ho w much I like the whimsical appearance of this image. Although it seems that a sliver of a Coke machine doesn't fit the rest of the image's elements, to me it is entirely compatible with your world.

Wayne, Patrick, Wolfgang, Michael. Thanks for the comments; much appreciated. If you haven't figured it out by now, that sad looking schlump in the mirror is yours truly. As for the rest of my body, Michael, I'm trying to lose a little more of it now with a diet. I think I've been a disembodied head for a while now floating in a field of dreams.

Hi Jack,

although I don't know what I'm looking at exactly, I feel the urge to comment on this photo. I would like to call it a self-portrait, although no direct allusion to that effect has been made. Your face appears in a space within the photo, possibly assigning a certain weight to your personality in the framework of a greater whole, which could be the Japanese society that you live in. The division in the pattern behind your face might be understood as a sign of mixed cultural background. I like the grazing light on the wall and the fact that the colors all have an echo elsewhere in the picture. The skillfully contrived story mentioned by Wayne is a big plus, as you seem to notice things that would elude most others. I hope this comment makes sense to you. To me, this is a cultural document and a auto-portrait rather than an environmental shot. Kind regards, Vincent

I almost thought you were behind what I perceive as a wall and wanted to desperately tell you I'd rescue you if I could !! A bit of trickery and you are looking into a Mirror - clever !!! I think you describe many of us.......for sure a bit of me. Have not been sure where to be for awhile - but no alarms.....life just gets too busy with flotsam we never ask for. Thankfully by now I've maintained some of the skills to stay above it all ! Cheers to you Jack. Good to see you !

Real nice! Brilliant use of multiple use of framing to hone the eyes to several portions of the photograph; I am lucky to achieve one!

Hi Jack, my friend... It has been quite some time I visited PN under its new ... look. In the meantime I was just lurking infrequently to see your gems. It is not surprising to observe your never diminishing enthusiasm in using photography almost as a method of survival in these times. You continue to inspire me as an artist. Good to see you again.

Hi, Bulent. I haven't been active on PN for the last six weeks or so. This place wears on me and I have to get away for awhile. It's certainly not what it was like in the old days when I had so many talented friends here, people like yourself, who made each visit a keenly anticipated event. I stick around because there's really nowhere else to go. Anyway, I plan to get back to posting in the next couple of days. I hope you'll continue sharing your work which I always found both expressive and inspiring. Keep in touch. Best regards, Jack
