Giangiorgio Crisponi 450 Posted January 18, 2019 Lunch time (Phalacrocorax carbo) When the cormorant came out from under the water with the fish in his mouth I could do only a few more shots because he swallowed it after a few seconds. The bird is free in nature. Nikon D500, Sigma supertele 300-800mm, f / 5.6, 1 / 1600sec, ISO 400, Thanks for your comment Link to comment
tai 3 Posted January 18, 2019 Excellent dynamic dinner moment, Giangiorgio! Remarkably captured. Beautiful bird, fish and water. Bravo!!! Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted January 18, 2019 Giangiorgio, your location and timing in taking this shot couldn't have been better. The fish looks like quite a mouthful for the bird. Excellent technically and artistically, especially the detail. Given your interest in birds, you may be interested that in my area of southern Florida cormorants and anhingas (similar coloring and size, longer neck) abound. - - My best, michael Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi Giangiorgio, very good capture! Cormorants sometimes prey on fish too heavy for them; this one seems to have nailed it. Very well done! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 450 Posted January 19, 2019 Thanks Vincent for you beautiful comment. Even at first I thought it was too big for him but instead he swallowed it without difficulty Link to comment

frigo 4,155 Posted January 21, 2019 Giangiorgio...Great timing to get this cormorant with its catch. This size fish must be about the biggest it can handle as I have seen some here unable to take in what looked very similar size.I like the POV ,the dripping water but mostly the eyes of both the players.Into my Favorites|!Salutations-Laurent Link to comment

DGorinstein 20 Posted February 17, 2019 Result: Indigestion! :-) I have had that experience many times when overeating...However, this bird better not let this catch go because it would be enough for a couple of days. I wonder how it will manage to swallow it! Superb catch! Pun intended. All the best. DG Link to comment
