Ken, I'm grateful for the shout-out. Actually, you should have mentioned Zbigniew Tyburczy, since one of his images motivated me to experiment with this style. Your photo is somewhat pointillistic, which complements the semirealism of the subject matter. It seems that you may have exercised some restraint in connection with the sharpness. To me, this fits the shadowy people quite well. - - My best, michael

Michael, thank you for your comment, so pleased you like my effort. Your recent POTW did inspire me to experiment with this style and as you say I've used lots of restraint trying to maintain some of the original image and not relying on the filter to "make" the image. Keep up the good work, best regards Ken.

Very interesting only getting a hint of the subjects. Another Saul Leiter inspired photo, like shooting through rain and moisture covered windows?

This is another great take on ZT and then Michael's examples. I agree with Ken, that this maintains more of the structure and with Michael, about the analogy with pointilism. The faces of the people being obscured makes this familiar street scene somewhat out-worldly. I like how the edges of the human figures 'tear off' into black fragments, as if they are about crumble onto the ground.

Interesting (and innovative) technique and effect, Ken! It works really well. It's cool that you mention Michael Linder in the title as a source of your inspiration. I also note previous references to Zbigniew Tyburczy and Saul Leiter.

To be honest, it's not very often that I come across such innovative photos on PN. This one is a joy to behold :)

Another superb example of this "collection" of fine art, with a visionary new perspective. Pure Impressionism in Black and White !! DG
