Nick D. 4,768 Posted January 8, 2019 Hi, it is interesting composition , I like it overall. May be to crop out that poll on the top right side? Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted January 8, 2019 Pardon the bad pun, but the photograph does not capture the crosswalk only; it captures these people walking at cross purposes, at least directionally. I'm glad you left the pole intact, since it infuses the image with a bit of quirkiness and the possibility of reality. Moreover, the patterns in the sidewalk and street are fascinating. photomouse 0 Posted January 8, 2019 Hi Jack.. Fabulous photo. There is a sense of porpose in it. But also something of being trapped in the rat race. Drew has joined Instagram and posts most of his stuff there. He misses the intelligent feedback he gets here on photonet from you and his other supporters. He raves about your photos, and I can see why. We looked you up on instagram and while you have an account it seems you don't use it. Drew was hoping to keep in touch with you via email. I tried to contact you via you family on Facebook to no avail. Is there a way to get your email address so Drew can write to you from time to time assuming you are open to that? You can send it to me at mysuspectspam@gmail.com. My name is Myra. Link to comment

wolfgangarnold 142 Posted January 8, 2019 Awesome. I'd second Michael's comment. One aspect, where I'm undecided about, is how much retouching (e.g. sweeping the leaves or removing that greenish mark) to apply - on one hand side, these little elements (can) distract the eye, on the other hand I've seen many contemporary fine art photos which are almost clinically clean so that they loose authenticity and their "photographic" quality. mark_q 0 Posted January 8, 2019 Perfect timing and composition. Reminds me some goodies of yours shot right here, easy to understand why. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 9, 2019 Hi Jack, so many photos of yours are on this page that picking one to comment on becomes difficult, so I just will comment on this one first. This scene has all the geometrical shapes a t-junction with a crossing could have and you have captured them considering both their variety in form and color and their function, having two nameless figurants using the crosswalk. Fine perspective and composition. Funny to see the small details (as mentioned by Wolfgang) play a totally different role in this image than in your 'tree of life'. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted January 10, 2019 I have no further nor more words of praise than already written. Striking, stark (i.e. rigidly conforming) presentation of the "half human" a human has become. In a rush, in different directions. The perspective you give it with your POV is the icing on the cake! DG Link to comment
Vlado 0 Posted January 11, 2019 Very well composed and cropped - dying to see it in black and white! Link to comment
FranzWeber 368 Posted January 11, 2019 Reminds me of André Kertész in a modern form. Regards, Franz Link to comment
jacek_raczy_ski 1 Posted January 11, 2019 It looks like a scene from movie of Wachowski brothers .... I look and I do not know which one to take my piglet, blue or red ..... Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 14, 2019 Drew, Pierre, Nick, Michael, PMX, Stephanie, Wolfgang, Markku, Vincent, Daniel, Vlad, Franz, Jacel, Arthur (whew!) - A belated thank you for your comments on this picture. To tell you the truth, I was a bit overwhelmed by the response. I much appreciate your interpretations and suggestions. Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted January 27, 2019 I had to review some of your recent work and revisit this image. It is quite impressive that in this photo you capture a person crossing a street. One of your most recent ones, you again show a pedestrian, but in completely antagonizing and opposing attitudes. Wow! You manage to interpret human attitudes without showing facial expressions....quite a feat. This image shows abiding by rules and obedience. The most recent one I commented on, precisely the contrary, disregard for rules and rebellious. Fantastic work, a delight to view and try to interpret what is IN your viewfinder, the magic space between your eye and the subject beyond the lens. Bravo! DG Link to comment
