Giangiorgio Crisponi 458 Posted January 2, 2019 From their expression they do not seem so happy to me, perhaps they are aware that they are not free in nature, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
Wayne Melia 5,998 Posted January 3, 2019 They seem happy to me, --arms around each other, but who's to say. I do have a favouritism for images about connecticvity between each other, and that theme extrapolates to non-humans. The photo does a good job of portraying their connection, and the eye contact with the little one connects to the viewer. My compliments on an excellent photo! Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted January 3, 2019 Thank you Giangiorgio for your thoughts. Your impression is definitely a valid one, although, now a days, (good for the animals) many zoos have moved away from the cage type enclosures to more open areas to recreate some of the animals' natural habitats, this one included. What cannot be removed of course is the curious, amused eyes of hundreds of spectators that they encounter everyday. This family was jumping around and from time to time was coming back for some quite family moment. Thats when this picture was taken. Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted January 3, 2019 Thanks so much Wayne for your comment. When I see apes (specially chimps), I see so much behavioral similarity with humans. Who knows how much emotion they are capable of, but I like to think, the baby chimp feels secure and loved in his mother's arms, just as a human toddler would. Link to comment
