Supriyo 6,008 Posted December 30, 2018 There she was among the crowd, glowing like a mask in the dark. Thank you for your critic. Please tell me your thoughts about it. Link to comment

michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 30, 2018 Aha, finally a b & w! In my opinion, the success of this image is due primarily to two elements: the lighting (which is rather obvious) and the framing (which is somewhat subtle). I'm also impressed by the textural variety the background vegetation and the wall provide. A superior image, Supriyo (a favorite)! - - My best always, michael Link to comment
donna pallotta 107 Posted December 30, 2018 magnificent work with light... i love the creative choice here.. to showcase the portrait in a shadowy crowd... so creative... more compelling and beautiful than had she been a lone portrait ;-} dp Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted December 31, 2018 Wow! What amazing natural lighting. The gaze of the woman.....like Kabuki....her expression is worth a thousand words. A spontaneous street moment transformed into ancient art. A feat tough to surpass. DG Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 31, 2018 Very nice use of light to spotlight and create mood. Her face seems almost like some sort of ritual mask. Now that I have read your comment, I see that I picked up on what you saw. Happy New Year, Supriyo; only 6 hours left of the year here in Osaka. Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted December 31, 2018 Thank you, Roldao. I am a fan of your well-timed impeccably composed shots. Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted December 31, 2018 Michael, it’s great that you commented on the framing and the background because they are in my opinion, critical aspects of the shot. Your critiques are always well thought and cover all aspects of a photo and I appreciate it. Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted December 31, 2018 Donna, thank you very much for bringing the distinction between her being alone vs her being in the crowd. I do have another shot of her alone (wanted to cover all bases), and this one definitely works better. Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted December 31, 2018 Thank you DG. Analogy to kabuki seems fitting, with the wide open eyes and painted look on her face. Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted December 31, 2018 Jack, thank you for visiting and commenting. When you were gone, at one point I thought we have lost you, like so many others. Great to see you come back. As for the photo, I liked how the light reacted with her face to bring out a special character, which was gone the moment she stepped out of the light and was lost in the crowd. Link to comment
