mikemorrell 3,209 Posted January 9, 2019 Funnily enough, I recently re-read some of Michael Freeman's many books on photography. I really like his books because they focus more on topics like intention, framing, composition, color, etc. than on the 'mechanics' of photography. In one of his books, he talked about when and when not to 'break' (sub-)frames or compositional lines. The example he gave was photographing a line of beach huts. He wanted to include some passers-by and he gave examples illustrating how the best photo was one in which the passing people were exactly in sub-frames without crossing into other sub-frames. This photo reminded me very much much of his example. Each person has his/her own sub-frame and there's no 'break'. I;m sure sure Michael Freeman would very much approve of this photo (as do I!).
