I like the way the backlight enhances the feather detail but I think it does also create a high contrast and there's a strong shadow there of the beak. I watched a video which emphasized trying to get a 'catchlight' in the eye when photographing birds, otherwise they can look a bit lifeless. I'd be trying to take from the side the light is coming from to get this and a more balanced exposure. Nice Work !

Hi Dave, thanks for taking the time to comment and offer advice on this shot. Some bg-this is trough a window. The sun only hits the feeder for a short time in the am, so I have little or no control over the light besides working with what is there. Plus these guys are in constant motion, so had to do best I could. I agree with ll you said, just weren't conditions to accomplish that. Thanks again.
