michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 27, 2018 I see that you've started to dabble in papier-mâché! Perhaps your intent was to use the medium to create an abstract portrait of a zebra. Whatever your intent, the image works well due to its 3-d appearance, the sharp detail, and the very slight hint of color. Bravissimo! (yet another favorite). Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 27, 2018 Michael - Thanks for the comment. This is actually a poster peeling off a wall; the curling of the paper gives it a curious sculptural effect suggesting all sorts of imaginative possibilities. On another note, I've begun noticing a rather alarming drop in views and response both to my pictures and to those of the members I follow. For a while I thought this site might be recovering but lately aside from me and you and one or two others, it's been crickets. The funny thing is that the various discussion forums seem to be doing well even if they continually breed a high number of personal attacks. This leads me to believe that the old model of PN is dying and that the vigorous nature of discussion sparked by individual pictures may have already become a thing of the past. It's the one thing that attracted me to PN in the first place and really the only thing that keeps me here. If that disappears, so do I. Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted December 29, 2018 Hello Jack: Before opening the image, the thumbnail had your name written all over it. When I did open it, I found another of your gentle riddles....."koans" maybe? I saw a picture or portion thereof of a work of art, but whatever it is, this "Rorschach" is apparently self-defining. A magnificent allegory that makes us stop and ponder, And then, the technical side.....No need to describe composition, details, et. al, Thanks Jack for your kind bestowal and regale. All the best for the continuation of this so enriching an exchange. DG Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 3, 2019 Daniel - I neglected to thanks you for your comment. "Self-defining" is a very apt term in this case. I struggled with a title but in the end decided to do without one at all perhaps for the reason you stated. Anyway, arigato and Happy New Year. Best Regards, Jack Link to comment
