michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 22, 2018 One pooch seems to know the safety rules; it's looking to the right. Its companion, however, is indifferent and is staring straight ahead. Makes me wonder what instructions they gave their human. (Not just another street corner shot). Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted December 22, 2018 I love Michaels' comment, a real dilemma ;-) Well seen Jack.................BR, Holger Link to comment
jennifercatron 9 Posted December 22, 2018 The composition isn't too bad, but the focus is a bit soft. Link to comment
jennifercatron 9 Posted December 22, 2018 But should it be on the pavement or on the dogs? What is the subject? What do you want the person looking at this image to focus on? Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 26, 2018 Michael, Holger, Jenny - Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment on this picture. .................Michael - In this picture at least, the pooches are dominant; their owner is just a pair of legs. They will do whatever they want. ...............Holger - Thanks. Michael always comes up with an original take on pictures. .............Jenny - First of all, I have to agree with you about my lack of technical ability; I'm often disappointed with some of my street shots for their lack of focus. Having said that, I think this is a successful shot, at least in my book. I have looked through your portfolio and see that you are mainly a wedding and perhaps commercial photographer. As such, you have a different set of criteria for a picture, not so much to surprise people, but to deliver what they expect and how they picture themselves. I think you do a very good job in that respect so, of course, there are fewer surprises in your pictures and understandably so. For me, I have no such constraints. What I most want to do is to break out of the programmed way I habitually see the world and find a different perspective, to notice things in a new way. You could say I view my photography as kind of a calling card (warts and all) and hope to find other travelers who are also trying to create the world anew. It's a fool's game but one that I'm more than willing to play. Link to comment
