LUNCH TIME. This heron (Egretta garzetta) managed to capture a large fish (Sea bass), for a long time he tried to turn it over to swallow on the side of the head. The fish tried to defend itself by spreading the spines but in the end the heron after a long battle managed to eat it. Nikon D 500, Sigma supertele 300-800mm, f / 5.6, 1/1000 sec, ISO 560. Hi Giangiorgio, Thank you very much for the explanation. Without it I would be wary about the heron. I am glad it had a happy ending.

A stunning shot, Giangiorgio! Your elegant heron during meals looks funny. It's hard to imagine it was able to swallow this prickly fish. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

I do love sashimi! I’m sure the bird would rather you used a more flattering photo but this one is so alive! Great photo!

Ciao Giangiorgio: This is, by all means, a winner. Magnificent sharpness and clarity of this aspect of the dramas of Life. Powerful. Grabbing. Impressive. Just great! Into my favorites immediately. Regards. DG

I have never seen a heron with this much of a mouthful! I see expressions of anguish and determination, all while trying to maintain a demeanor of calm composure. Nice emotive capture!
