vincentoiseau 83 Posted August 27, 2018 Hi Timo, looking at this photo it's like a statement on the art of bokeh. It's delicious and debatable at the same time; delicious for photographers who have made photos with both modern and vintage lenses and consider photography to be an art form that can thrive on its limitations, debatable because the bokeh is not as buttery and smooth as lots of people nowadays have seen it and expect it to be. What are your thoughts on this? Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Timo Hartikainen 556 Posted August 28, 2018 I agree on your thoughts. I like vintage lenses and how they render images, the results are not always so perfect, but that's the interesting thing about it, for me at least. I have only one lens which has a new design, modern coatings and several aperture blades and lens elements. It can do very smooth backgrounds for photos, but sometimes I find it a little bit boring, I think the out of focus areas are too smooth. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted August 29, 2018 Smooth bokeh can be beautiful, but indeed a little boring too. Vintage lens bokeh is an 'acquired taste'. That's why I can enjoy this photo; it's obviously a vintage lens, with photographic side effects that make the image all the more interesting. I like the minimalist composition too.
