Quite an interesting image, Ken, which poses an equally interesting question (to me, at least). What if I'd never viewed another image in this series, which clearly displayed the vessel on a transport? I'd want to know why its crew is wearing safety harnesses. The image's composition and perspective supports this hypothesis, inasmuch as the vessel may be in the water. Excellent use of b&w. - - My best, michael

Michael, many thanks for your comprehensive and kind comment. In answer to your question. Yes the lifeboat was returning to base on a transporter and RNLI Sea Safety states....Every RNLI lifeboat volunteer on-board must wear a Crewsaver lifejacket this jacket is based around a full yachtsman harness attached to a steel "D" ring, this must be worn during any training or rescue mission. On this occasion they had just attended a rescue mission. This location is quite unique and at low tide allows the public access close to the vessel. Hope this answers your question, best regards Ken.
