Poor things... we see different size meshes, is this to allow "bigger " things to escape? Always enjoy learning about your area.

Greg & Verena...This is the ''secondary net'' into which the primary scoop has been made with the other net in the distance.Don't know exactly how it works but this piece has escape holes plus the larger mesh as you detected to prevent the bigger fish from ending up in the catch.For some reason which I assume is to protect the delicate shell fish,it is then tranferred into small mesh bags(maybe 10 lbs)on board and this is how we see it at offloading.Salutations-Laurent
