I definitely prefer the b&w version. The composition is so strong and the figures so dominant that I feel color is extraneous in this case.

Jack...Thank you;I have a tendency to go color but I guess I should re-think in cases like this one.Merci et salutations-Laurent

Cher Laurent: As I have previously suggested to you, these subjects and journalistic-type photography somehow bring about the drama by using BW. I also recommended you watch the biographical film of Sebastiao Salgado, a superb photographer who has left a legacy of journalistic photography in dangerous places of the Planet. IMHO one has to have a thick skin and cold blood to take the extra-dramatic images he has managed to capture, being able to look through his lens directly into the eyes of a woman going through an unbearable drama, among many other dramatic, strong and powerful photos. Leaving that aside, I thing the image is more telling, at least for me, than with color. I guess it was a good exercise for you to see what you prefer. You might, and this is for you only on a personal exercise, try to play a bit with stronger contrast. Be as it may, it is a magnificent photograph. Congratulations. DG

Daniel,...My long reply of this morning which got gobbled up by the time lapse basically said I agreed with your observation.Being of an age which allowed me to live the era when B/W was the norm and color was a luxury,I quickly went color when it became accessible and later in my work travels,I liked the color side of it as it represented part of the culture so different to that here at home.Lately,I have been revisiting and converting to B/W some of my previous uploads and the response has been positive confirming the added dramatic effect you pointed out and I thank you for this. However courageous skillful photographers like S.Salgado had to be,my only claim in these photos I upload is that they were taken with a short lense and taken, never stolen without the implied consent of those being targeted;I guess this is where the shot becomes a memory!Merci et meilleures salutations, mon ami-Laurent...PS...I know I am rather cautious with the contrast button but will tweak it some more in the future.
