tonychristians 136 Posted April 24, 2018 Very nice. Excellent clarity and exposure. I've tried a few times and have not been completely satisfied. What lens did you use if you don't mind me asking? Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted April 24, 2018 Hi Tony...I used my 300mm/f4,hand held and firmly braced against the guardrail of my front varenda; I never use a tripod but this would be a good place to use one.I shot away at this whenever the cloud cover moved away and let the camera select the f-stop which I stepped down by increment.I tweaked the best shot in PP and cropped to fill the frame.Glad you like!Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted April 24, 2018 Handheld, Laurent - are you kidding?!? Aside from the clarity and exposure Tony mentioned, the image is incredibly sharp. Even the best moon photo I ever shot using a tripod didn't have the strength this image has. My sincere congratulations, michael Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted April 25, 2018 Michael..You are very generous with your observation.I am totally ignorant in taking this type of shot and I just pointed the camera at the moon and went ''trial & error'' with different speeds /openings and then tweaked the best shot in PP....Now,pumped up with your comment,I went back out this evening to see if I could repeat to find the moon crossed with a nice contrail;by the time I went back in the house to mount my 300mm,the trail had shifted and the moon was in the clear so I took a few shots,Amazing how much more of the moon is lit just a day later. If you have time, look for this new shot which I parked next to this one in my folio...titled ''A moon for Michael''.Salutations amicales-Laurent Link to comment
