John, on the light of the last photos you posted I'd venture to think you accidentaly left the focus on manual. Is it only me or are they all slightly ouf of focus?

I think that the focus issue may be related in part to the full aperture necessary in this location in poor lighting conditions .. not much room for error

LAT and John,

My issue as well. Most recent photos are not sharp. I assumed its intentional. Pictures are superb and lack of sharpness is an issue, at least for me.

Thank you Andrew, I appreciate your input. No, it's not intentional. This is indoors with full aperture, the focus for what it's worth is on the subject. I'm trying to attach a close up here (it is a really small portion of the full frame), I don't know if it will work .. it is duplicated also as a separate, independent posting and I don't want that ..

Hi John,

The enlargement looks relatively sharp, and so does the main picture, now. It was not sharp before, unless I am hallucinating :)

I had some issue with my old Sony A900 since it was not calibrated properly and it did not focus correctly. I wasted a lot of pictures until I noticed this problem and that is why I am now super sensitive to sharpness. Otherwise I would not notice a problem. In you case it was with many pictures not just this one. For example you latest one with a rose is not sharp, so I was not hallucinating.

I love your pictures sharp or not.

Well, that's entirely mutual Andrew, I am your no. 1 fan .. : -) ... as regards focus, the "rose picture" was taken in New York eight years ago, so I must have been careless for quite a time now .. sometimes I will undoubtedly have focused badly, other times it could be the unforgiving full aperture used indoors, and still other times it could be a matter of viewing a small file, as in the case above.

Hi John, Like I sad your pictures are fabulous no matter what. This one look sharp when its smaller. Large version is somewhat soft.
