Jack McRitchie 150 Posted April 5, 2018 Hi Lannie. I don't spend that much time on the site anymore but an outstanding picture still merits a comment from me. Love the use of light and shadow to create dramatic tension in the photo. I've thought about posting pictures again but it seems to me the character of PN has changed - not so much a true community as it was before. I'm not much interested in "likes" or "admires" or the now being tested "daps". I guess I'm old fashioned in that regard (or maybe just plain old) but I really miss the interaction between photographers that did so much to inspire my own photography in years past. Landrum Kelly 65 Posted April 5, 2018 Great to hear from you again, Jack. I have missed you here, but I have spent little time here myself. I took this one with a cell phone camera, and I was pleased with it--but not with the title. I would love to see more of your work again, and I was wondering if you were posting elsewhere. --Lannie Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted April 10, 2018 Lannie, I find it interesting that a basketball hoop simply hanging on to the garage's soffit seems to give life to the title, even though you don't like it. Better still, to me the predominant area of jet black makes the structure, driveway, and sidewalk look like the sort of facade used for movie sets. Jack was so right in selecting this image to review. And I wholeheartedly join with you in urging Jack to post more images; there's more than enough photogs still interested in them - you and me and . . . Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted April 10, 2018 Thank you, Michael. When I walked up on this scene, I was struck by the extreme contrast in brightness. I'm glad that Photoshop allowed me to get those blacks really black. Yes, we have to get Jack and everybody back again, don't we? I wish, I wish. --Lannie Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted April 15, 2018 I like this image Lannie, the contrast and tones are just great and from a cell phone no less. The title is brilliant in my opinion, the lonely basket. It certainly would be nice to have Jack back here at PN. Take care..............BR, Holger Link to comment
