Lovely macro Gail. Focus/DOF perfect. Gold and black stand out from the muted background. What a kind little fellow to pose on your table, sparing you those bending pains!

Gail,

Macro photography is more and more spreading around the world. And it is terribly interesting to see this tiny world in detail. It is a complete organism with eyes, legs and arms very often has beautiful colors and most of all we have no faintest idea what they are doing around us. Beside they can annoy us. Do they think? They have perception, at least I think. The biggest thing you do with your images is making people like me think about this tiny world and how they are of a great importance for our living. The quality of your image is immaculate and wonderful. My compliments,

Herman

My goodness Herman - it was so good to hear from you and truly humbling to hear your comments about this image. I am fascinated by the Macro World......many times it 'Grosses me out' - but I also enjoy the challenge of trying to 'get the shot'. I have not learned how to stack images etc . I would like to but any Macro Insect images you see of mine, they have mostly been handheld - sometimes I use my tripod. I DELETE so many of them re 'focus' and I also struggle at times making sure I am in the Proper Focal Plane for the Insect. Yes, so many of these insects are vital to the planet, they also are pollinators. Thank you once again dear Herman for your kind and insightful comments on this image :) Hoping you have a Lovely Summer, Gail

Hi Gail, I'm impressed that you were able to do this hand-held. That's amazing. You must have a rock-steady grip and/or a good flash. I notice in the comments you mention wanting to figure out focus-stacking. It's not hard. If you have Photoshop and want details, give me a shout.

Regards,

Peter.

I didn't know you were into macro! This is just a unique specimen....I don't mean the insect, but your photo of it. One of the best executed "studies" (rather than a photograph) of DOF and perfect control on focus and unrivaled sharpness. Wow! DG

Hi Gail

So sad to hear of your tragic loss. No words can truly express the pain of such loss. But facing those emotions are the key to healing. I hope you and the family are beginning to heal, together. Look after yourself too and perhaps take some time to express yourself through photography, especially those gorgeous soft, fluid macros which you love, as do we!

Take care dear friend

Hello Gaile: it has been a very long time since I have had the pleasure of using the language of photography to get together. This micro image is absolutely magical, magnificent, unbelievable. I say this especially when contrasting it with your other much more subdued and foggy Vail of your also magnificent macros, and reaching us with sides of this wonderful and also magical planet Earth. Kindest and most respectful regards. DG

Thank you Tony for your very kind and thoughtful words that touched me very deeply. It has been a long road to be sure. 1 year Anniversary of the Loss was just a few weeks ago and it seemed to tear off the bandaid that had been forming, understandable of course. So hard for son Jesse and the children. I truly appreciate your concern and words of advice. I will drop by to say hello dear friend.
