OK, forget my comments on what lens you were shooting with on the later posted shot. I would expect the crisp facial details from f/1.8, but not the liberal focal depth. Again, nice background bokeh to contrast the crisp face and sweater

Again like in the other photo I gain a lot by using RAW to B&W conversion. Manipulating single colors can do a surprising magic on monochrome image. In this case was the increased contrast and decrease in the background light.
