Wayne Sadler 564 Posted January 20, 2018 The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile (The Triumphal Arch of the Star) is probably the most visited monument in Paris. Formerly named Place of the Star because it is the juncture formed by twelve radiating avenues which explains the life threatening traffic at the monument. It is two times as large as its older brother, the Arc du Carrousel near the Louvre. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted January 20, 2018 Wayne, to me, this image is somewhat less about the Arch and more about the throng of people. Having said this, I feel that the soft appearance of the image as a whole still allows the Arch's majesty to come through. Finally, although many of the people otherwise could be involved in conversation, it seems to me that they simply are gathered together to experience the place. The image's strongest element, therefore, is the sense of place it exudes. Simply masterful! Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 564 Posted January 20, 2018 Thanks, Michael. Great observation. After years of avoiding people in my images, after discovering I could hide identities with "painting", I can't get of enough of photographing their interplay. Link to comment

Wayne Sadler 564 Posted January 22, 2018 Many thanks, Patsy. My wife made me walk a mile to this monument, but it was worth it. But did we have to do it in a record pace. Link to comment
