Supriyo 6,008 Posted November 28, 2017 Michael, this is awesome! A car wash? More like the entrance to an utopian land. Introduction of the tilt gives a sense of whim or eccentricity that goes very well with the mood in the image. BTW, I really like the color fringes around the bubbles and the colorful artifacts in the shadow area. Instead of appearing as distraction, they go well with the dreamy, illusory appeal of the photo. I must say, this is one of the most original works I have seen recently. Link to comment

DGorinstein 20 Posted November 29, 2017 Astonishing! Stopped me in my tracks. Couldn't pass by the thumbnail and had to take a closer look at this most original and magnificently framed, original image. Masterful DOF enhanced by the slightly slanted framing. Congratulations on leaving it like that, i.e. as taken. It adds a "special" indescribable "something" to this very inspired shot. Hat's off!! Into my faves right away! DG Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted November 29, 2017 In temporal order . . . Supriyo, ZT, and DG: I truly am humbled by your comments. Quite honestly, I shot this photograph with my (aging) cell phone at the spur of the moment, so I had no time to consider the position of my "camera." That's the only element that I didn't modify in post. Sometimes a bit of serendipity can be a photographer's best friend. - - My best to all of you, michael Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted December 1, 2017 Hello Michael: Congratulations once again, and the fact that you shot this with your iPhone denotes your "photographic" mind set, to which I can relate, in the sense that I am always "seeing" in photographic terms and think how a shot (ANY shot) might come out. I understand your "urge" to take the picture with whatever you have at hand. Bravo! DG Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 1, 2017 DG, I firmly believe in the old adage that my best camera is the one I have with me at the time! Although my cell phone (iPhone5) camera is awful, it's my only alternative to have my gear with me at all times. Thanks for your supportive comments. - - mhl Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted December 1, 2017 Thats true. I agree with that. I have been taking an awful lot of photos with my iPhone 5 until recently when I upgraded to the latest model. I would rather take the shot and live with the shortcomings of a phone than lament about not having my dedicated gear with me. Also, in this case I think the colorful shadow artifacts from the phone image worked well to enhance the atmosphere of intrigue and fantasy. I suspect you have a good eye of utilizing such artifacts rather than rejecting them, perhaps from your background of working with abstracts. Link to comment
Jack_Maegli 0 Posted December 10, 2017 This exemplifies the metaphor "a Photographers eye"; most people (including most of the time myself) wouldn't notice how the 3 focal planes (windshield drops, building, and street) interact in the integrated composition; seeing only one plane at a time. Envisioning the opportunity is probably more important than how you shoot it! Link to comment

pablowarko 1 Posted August 25, 2020 Something very unusual, Michael. I love how the door frames the outdoor scene. An inspiration that shows how unexpected photography can be. Well done, seen and produced. Best regards, Paul. Link to comment
