This is a case where you're penchant for experimentation pays off. Simplifying the forms and partially desaturating the picture gives a kind of fluid quality to a picture that otherwise might possibly be too busy with too many details competing for your attention.

I'm trying to develop the technique I used on this image and previously. It seems to me that it works best when there's at least one human subject. What do you think, Jack?

Yeah, I think it's a good arrow to add to your quiver (or iron to your golf bag or whatever is your poison). I like the way that it dissolves the details and leaves you with more pure forms. Sometimes too much detail sets the picture in conflict with itself, pulling the eye this way and that. Here that has been smoothed out and the selective use of color works really well here to direct the viewer to the central figure. I don't know how this would work in general but I'm sure you'll get busy finding out. If only we had more time.
